Hououji is my original character and is part of a larger story that my friends RekKa, Mirai, and ReiKo and I are working on together...they each have their own character in the story that they each created as well, Hououji happens to be mine!^_^...his power is based on the mythological Pheonix, and that's all I'm going to say until the story starts to take shape on paper!^_^
Well...tried my hand at a new technique for myself...I coloured the original pencil art with Prismacolours and skip the inking process^^...I think it came out pretty cool for my first try...reminded me of using watercolours, cause I don't ink my line art when I uase watercolours....anyhow, the background is cg coloured, so I didn't get away from that entirely^_^...
VERY spiffy, Bettina. Like I said before, I really like the feather in his mouth, and the way his eyes are slit slightly . . . gives a lot of character to the picture, and that's what I like to see. I love when you mix natural with CG, those always produce the best pictures. I think we have another future Daily Favorite on our hands. ^_^
HOOORAAHHH!!!!!! Yet another Bettina Artwork.... KICK ACE as always... hmm what else can i say.... hmmm, thinking, thinking, thinking,,, aaaahhhhhhhhhhh i cant think anything to say .... lets try; AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!! yay!!!!!!!
KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK Bett'....
He's sexay... but you could have screwed the filters in the background... I mean, just seeing that it's a filter isn't good. Of course, you're just starting with PhotoShop so I shouldn't complain, but just you know :3 If you try something like this in the future, try making it wholely by hand.
In any case, awesome work.

Don't be surprised, I'm in fact a flying monkey.
I really have to agree with Boum about the filters. The figure is nothing short of utterly gorgeous, and I've been staring at his rings for some minutes now. He makes me want to lick the screne to try and get at him. n.n; The filter though... I knew it was one instantly and think it detracts from the picture to a small degree. It would have looked better if you have done sweeping strokes of two slightly different dark shades using some of the patterned brushes available in PS. IE: Something to give it texture and yet not take away from the lovely phoenix. (Which is also beautifully done.) I also don't think the figure blends in well with the background thanks only to that bit of light around said figure. This is only a personal preference though, as I know a lot of people who do that. He's got more than enough shading and bright points that the faint white outline is unnecessary.
Don't get me wrong though.. gorgeous picture! I'm going to sit here and drool over him a while longer.
oh, this IS nice--can't wait to see the sotry--sounds interesting!!

When did it suddenly become cool to hate everything? It's a growing problem, especially in the entertainment world, and no one benefits from an increasingly hard to please, pessimistic audience.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article.
In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
